Ambient Archive

Project Type :

2026, Data, Generative AI, Physical Interaction
Team :  Reto Chen  +  Jacob Gasper

Ambient Archive is an environmental, sensor-driven device that interprets its surroundings through embedded sensors, then generates and prints short performative instruction “scores” in the spirit of Fluxus.

The object operates as a poetic prompter translating light, temperature, proximity, and humidity into minimal, slightly uncanny prompts that invite participation in the space. Its form factor is inspired by a Rolodex: each printed thermal receipt is indexed into a circular archive, transforming fleeting environmental data into a growing, browsable collection. The LLO becomes an alternative journal that serves less as a record of what happened and more as a curated archive of how one was asked to notice, move, and inhabit a moment.
