“Skin Confessions” is a series of digital prints that confront the viewer with unfiltered thoughts of the artist’s mind. Trying to capture through words the artist’s urges, primitive instincts, and desires, the piece relates to the metaphor of skin as a separator, channeling its role as a gateway between internal ideas and the physical appearance of the human skin. Much like sweating and blushing that gives others hints of one’s emotions and internal responses, the method of inscribing words from the mind directly onto the skin’s surface is a brutally honest and daunting experience. As the most revealing work in the exhibition, “Skin Confessions” provides an immediate and unambiguous insight into the artist’s internal reactions. The process of selecting and presenting these inner thoughts resulted in a feeling of discomfort and shame, similar to the vulnerability we experience when our skin "betrays" us through sweating, blushing, and shivering.
